Voted the ‘7th best place to get a stir fry on Southfield Road, Chiswick’ in the 2004 edition of ‘Things to eat whilst you’re waiting for the N11 night bus to arrive’, Silly Wok has been a mainstay of the Chiswick dining scene since 21st March 1984, and was even half booked on Midsummers Day, June 2002 (we know!).

Boasting a highly respectable 3 Michelin tyres in a shed out back, we cater for many tastes. Whether you’re looking for a half-arsed stir fry or in need of a replacement tyre, we’re confident that you may remember your experience with us by the time you get on the N11 night bus.

With a coveted history, head chef Un-Yun-Soop has worked for some of the most famous names in Chiswick’s wok cooking scene, including a half hour stint at the prestigious ‘Wok You Want?’ where Un-Yun learnt how to fry an egg on the bonnet of a Ford KA.

His experience combined with our team’s ability to get your order right once in a while, has proven a winning combination for us over the years.

UN-YUN-SOOP (EXECUTIVE CHEF)

After forgetting about a jacket potato, Un-Yun first exploded onto the West London dining scene when he blew-up a microwave in his first kitchen position in a cafe on Acton Lane - resulting in a 12 month closure and front page news in the Acton Gazette.

Since that most fateful moment, Un-Yun knew that the kitchen was for him.

Un-Yun’s goal is to bring his quirky dishes to the masses by offering intriguing flavour combinations and pre-packaged goods from unknown and completely untraceable sources.

SOUS - CHEF - TIM SIMONS

Holding the record for ‘Most takeaways eaten in a year’ simultaneously with the record for ‘Most amount of fat removed from coronary arteries’, Tim’s love for post-night out takeaways has resulted in his prestigious position as sous chef at ‘Silly Wok’.

This great passion for cheap, nasty takeaways has trully helped Un-Yun realise his dream. Combined with his mentor’s unique approach to gastronomy, Tim’s laid-back approach to kitchen hygiene has helped Silly Wok achieve first place in the 2013 list ‘Ideal restaurants to take your granny to if you want to finally knock her off’.
